Gurteen College Set to Showcase Thrilling Farm Diversification Extravaganza!

"Gurteen College to Host Energy and Farm Diversification Show, Showcasing Revolutionary Agri-Industry Products"

Gurteen College in Ireland is preparing to host the Energy and Farm Diversification Show this week. Organized by Teagasc, the event promises to provide valuable insights into the latest innovative products transforming the agricultural industry. The show will take place on Thursday, July 20th, and will feature three pavilions dedicated to different sectors. These pavilions include the Energy Pavilion, focusing on anaerobic digestion (AD), energy policy, solar power, electricity, biomass, and community energy; the Farm Diversification Pavilion, showcasing food business start-ups and tourism diversification; and the Land Use Change and Sustainability Pavilion, exploring organics, forestry, the bio-economy, and agri-tech.

The Energy and Farm Diversification Show will offer exhibition halls where suppliers and industry experts in energy and diversification will be available to provide essential information for farmers, landowners, and businesses considering new ventures. Teagasc describes the event as “unmissable” for those looking to expand their businesses, appeal to a wider demographic, or connect with experienced industry professionals.

The event will commence at 9:00 a.m. with a speech by Jon Parry, the principal of Gurteen College, followed by a speech from Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue. Throughout the day, there will be various panel discussions taking place in the three pavilions, concluding around 5:30 p.m. These discussions will be organized into different tracks, including Track 1 – energy in agriculture, encompassing biomethane and AD, solar power, biomass, and energy communities; Track 2 – farm diversification, covering agri-tourism, diversification entrepreneurship, artisan food, and alternative diversification; and Track 3 – smart climate land use, focusing on organics and regenerative farming, as well as alternative and climate-smart land use.

In addition to the panel discussions, the event will feature several demonstrations. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness an on-farm anaerobic digester, learn about solar PV installation and energy management, discover the benefits of energy crops and biomass, explore strategies for maximizing organic fertilizer, and gain insights from a farm diversification demonstration.

The Energy and Farm Diversification Show at Gurteen College promises to be an informative and engaging event for farmers, landowners, and businesses seeking to explore new opportunities and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the agricultural industry.
